Tottenham have completed a deal to make full-back Andy Robertson their first signing of the summer window.

The Lilywhites announced on Friday that the Scotland international had joined the club, following his departure from Liverpool at the end of last season.

Robertson had previously been linked with a move to Spurs, but it wasn’t clear whether he would be willing to make the switch if the north London outfit were relegated from the Premier League.

Spurs ultimately avoided the drop following Roberto De Zerbi’s arrival, and the London side have now confirmed their first signing of the summer.

Robertson will add plenty of experience to De Zerbi’s squad, with the Scot having played more than 375 times for the Reds during his time at Anfield.

Last season he started just 11 of Liverpool’s 38 Premier League games, however, and he left the club upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the campaign.

Having joined the club from Hull City back in 2017, Robertson went on to establish himself as one of the best left-backs in Europe.

In total, the 32-year-old provided a staggering 69 assists for Liverpool across all competitions, as well as winning nine trophies during his time at Anfield including the Champions League and two Premier League titles.

Before making his debut for Spurs, Robertson will captain Scotland at the World Cup in North America this summer, where they face Haiti, Morocco and Brazil in the group stages.

In total the defender has been capped 93 times by his country at senior level.
