Tottenham Hotspur will begin their 2024/25 Premier League campaign with a trip to face newly-promoted Leicester City at The King Power Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou enjoyed a relatively successful debut season with the club last term, guiding Spurs to a fifth-placed finish in the table having gone unbeaten during the first ten matches.

The Australian will want to improve on that this term and qualify for the Champions League, and the Lilywhites have already strengthened with the signing of teenager Archie Gray from Leeds United.

Now, it appears that the North London outfit could be set to re-sign one of their former players.

As per Football Insider, Tottenham are considering a move for Sporting CP winger Marcus Edwards this summer.

Edwards could make a surprise return to Tottenham

The report claims that Spurs have asked to be kept informed about the player’s situation, with fellow London side Crystal Palace also interested in the 25-year-old.

Edwards left Tottenham in 2019 having made just one senior appearance for the club, initially joining Vitoria Guimaraes before moving to Sporting in 2022.

He has played more than 100 times for his current side, scoring 21 goals and providing 26 assists.

Last season the Englishman netted four league goals as Sporting cruised to the Portuguese top flight title.

Edwards’ current contract with the club is set to run until the end of the 2025/26 campaign, but it appears increasingly likely that he could depart Lisbon prior to then.

While Spurs haven’t yet formalised their interest in Edwards, the club are said to be monitoring the player’s situation.

Tottenham made a late move when Gray joined from the Whites, hijacking the 18-year-old’s proposed move to Brentford.
