Tottenham Hotspur will hope to return to winning ways when they face high-flying Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have endured a dismal campaign so far and look set to miss out on qualification for European competition next term.

The Lilywhites looked to have improved last month but a 1-0 defeat against AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday means Postecoglou’s side have now won just two of their last six games across all competitions.

Off the pitch, it appears that Spurs are considering a shock move to re-sign one of their former academy stars.

As per TBR Football, the North London side are one of a number of Premier League clubs monitoring Sunderland left-back Dennis Cirkin.

The 22-year-old spent several years in Tottenham’s academy before departing the club to join the Black Cats in 2021, having failed to make a senior appearance for Spurs.

Postecoglou will likely want to bolster his squad this season

Cirkin has since played more than 100 times for Sunderland across all competitions, including 31 games this term as Regis Le Bris’ side battle to reach the play-offs and return to the top flight for the first time since 2017.

The ex-England Under-20 international is contracted to Sunderland until the end of next season, but the report claims that Spurs have kept tabs on the defender’s progression ever since he left the capital in 2021.

Fellow Premier League sides Chelsea, Crystal Palace, West Ham United, and Everton are all also said to be have scouted the full-back this season, while Championship leaders Leeds United are also credited with an interest.

Postecoglou currently has the likes of Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie to choose from at left-back, however both players have suffered with injuries in recent months.
