Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League season when they travel to face Burnley on Saturday.

The Lilywhites started the new campaign with a 2-2 draw against London rivals Brentford, before beating both Manchester United and Bournemouth 2-0 in the weeks since.

It remains to be seen whether or not Spurs will complete any new signings before Friday’s transfer deadline, but it appears that one of their current stars is close to leaving the club.

As per Football Insider, defender Japhet Tanganga is close to finalising a loan move to German club Augsburg.

Tanganga made his senior debut for Tottenham during a Carabao Cup tie in 2019 after graduating from the academy, but he has failed to maintain a regular starting spot in North London.

In total the defender has made 50 appearances for Spurs across all competitions, including 27 in the Premier League, but he looks set to depart the club on loan on Friday after falling down the pecking order.

The former England under-21 international is currently behind the likes of Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Davinson Sanchez in new manager Ange Postecoglou’s plans.

Last term Tanganga made only seven appearances across all competitions, playing just four times in the Premier League.

Postecoglou is said to be of the opinion that his squad is currently bloated and that departures will be necessary before the transfer window slams shut on Friday.

With that in mind, Tanganga looks set to depart the club having failed to appear in a matchday squad so far this season.

The centre-back’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025, but it remains to be seen whether or not he will sign an extension.
