Tottenham Hotspur begin their Premier League campaign when they travel to face newly-promoted Leicester City on Monday evening.

Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to build on his first season in charge, when he guided the Lilywhites to a fifth-placed top flight finish, narrowly missing out on qualification for this term’s Champions League.

Spurs have since bolstered their squad with the acquisitions of Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Dominic Solanke, the latter of which cost the club £65 million.

Now, it appears that the North London club have received another boost with one of their players set to stay put for the upcoming campaign.

As per Football Insider, defender Ben Davies is likely to stay put at Tottenham to see out the final year of his contract.

Davies looks set to see out the final year of his Spurs contract

The Welshman entered into the final 12 months of his contract earlier this summer, but the report claims that he is keen to stay put in North London and will therefore likely remain with Spurs for the new season.

If he does do so, the 31-year-old would then be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with any foreign club before departing as a free agent next summer.

Davies joined the Lilywhites from Football League side Swansea City a decade ago, and he has since played 330 times for the club across all competitions.

The 87-time Wales international has fallen slightly out of favour over the past couple of seasons, with other options preferred at left-back.

It is claimed that Postecoglou is happy to keep hold of Davies for the upcoming campaign despite his relative lack of playing time last term, and Spurs’ need to offload players before the end of the current transfer window.
