Tottenham Hotspur will start the 2026/27 Premier League season with a trip across the capital to face Brentford.

The Lilywhites have finished 17th in the Premier League in each of the past two Premier League seasons, narrowly avoiding relegation to the Championship last term.

Roberto De Zerbi took charge in north London in March, following the sacking of Igor Tudor, and the Italian oversaw marked improvement during his time in charge towards the end of last season.

After their visit to face the Bees, Spurs will host Newcastle United before a trip to The City Ground to face Nottingham Forest.

In the meantime, though, it has emerged that the London side have entered into the race to sign a talented England midfielder.

According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham have joined the race to land Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.

The report suggests that several clubs – including Liverpool and Manchester United – are interested in Wharton, with the Reds having already held talks with the player’s representatives.

Spurs are on the hunt for a new central midfielder following the departure of Yves Bissouma at the end of last season, and the report suggests that they are ready to push hard in an effort to sign Wharton.

Having joined Crystal Palace from boyhood club Blackburn Rovers in 2024, and has since made 96 appearances for the Eagles across all competitions.

The midfielder made his senior England debut in June 2024 and was included in the squad for the European Championships that summer, but did not feature at the tournament.

Wharton was also one of the more surprising ommissions from Thomas Tuchel’s squad for this summer’s World Cup, but it appears that the midfielder could be set for a big move in the coming weeks.

It is also claimed that Spurs are considering activating an option-to-buy clause to sign Joao Palhinha, with the Portuguese having impressed while on loan last term.
