Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to record a third consecutive victory when they face in-form Everton on Saturday afternoon.

The Lilywhites started the season strongly and sat top of the Premier League table after ten games, before a run of five matches without a win saw them knocked off of top spot.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have improved of late, though, beating both Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest.

The Australian could use the January transfer window to bolster his squad, and it appears that Spurs are chasing a Ligue 1 defender.

As per Football Insider, the North London outfit are interested in Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo.

Todibo is a target for Tottenham Hotspur

The 23-year-old joined Nice from Spanish giants Barcelona in the summer of 2021, having spent the previous six months on loan at the French side.

He has since impressed in the French top flight, making 117 appearances for Nice across all competitions and establishing himself as one of Ligue 1’s best central defenders.

Despite Spurs’ interest, the report claims that a move for Todibo could prove tricky.

Nice are currently second in the French top division, and are therefore reluctant to lose one of their most important players in the midst of a title challenge.

The Frenchman, who made his senior international debut for Les Bleus in September, is contracted to his current club until the summer of 2027.

Tottenham’s Premier League rivals Manchester United are also said to be interested in the player, and the Red Devils are believed to be leading the race to sign him.

Nice owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is set to become a minority owner of United, which could strengthen the Manchester club’s case to sign Todibo.
