Tottenham striker Harry Kane has today signed a new contract at White Hart Lane, which will see him stay in North London until 2022.

The England international only signed a new deal with the club back in February of this year, but interest from Manchester United appears to have forced the Spurs hierarchy into a new and improved deal.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed somewhat of a meteoric rise in the last two years, going from a player who featured mainly in the Europa League to a forward that regularly starts for both club and country.

Kane scored 31 times in all competitions in the 2014/15 season, including 21 goals in the Premier League, but he then bettered that tally last season en route to winning the Golden Boot, with his 25 goals one better than Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero and Leicester’s Jamie Vardy.

The Spurs forward’s incredible rise has also seen him become a regular in the England squad, and he has been capped 16 times for his country since his debut for the Three Lions against Lithuania in March 2015, a game in which he scored 80 seconds after coming on as a substitute.

Unsurprisingly, Kane’s new contract has sparked jubilant scenes from Tottenham fans on Twitter, who are understandably thrilled at the news…

Some even poked fun at Jose Mourinho’s Man United, who were reportedly lining up a move for the Englishman in the near future…

While one Liverpool fan made a mockery of the news…
