Tottenham Hotspur recorded a second consecutive victory as they cruised to a 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.

James Maddison opened the scoring in the first half, before Dejan Kulusevski doubled the Lilywhites’ lead shortly after the hour mark.

Spurs don’t appear to have struggled to score since the departure of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich earlier this month, with Ange Postecoglou’s side having netted twice in each of their three league games.

Despite this, it appears that the North London outfit could be considering a move for a new striker.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham remain interested in Brentford’s Ivan Toney and could revisit a potential move for the player in January.

Toney, 27, has been prolific for the Bees ever since they were promoted to the Premier League two years ago.

The Englishman has scored 68 goals in 124 matches for Brentford across all competitions, including an impressive 32 in 68 Premier League games.

Toney remains of interest to Spurs

He hasn’t played since May, though, after being given an eight-month suspension after being found guilty of breaching FA betting rules.

The report claims that Spurs will assess a possible move for the striker when the transfer window reopens in the new year, with the player’s ban set to be uplifted on January 16.

By that point, Toney will have just 18 months remaining on his current Brentford contract, and the forward could therefore be available at a cut-price if the Bees look to avoid the risk of losing him for free.

Despite Spurs netting six times in three games so far, striker Richarlison has struggled in front of goal and missed a number of chances against the Cherries on Saturday.

Postecoglou could therefore be keen to add a natural goal scorer to his squad in January and Toney could prove to be the ideal candidate.

The former Newcastle United man was handed his senior England debut back in March, appearing as a second-half substitute during a 2-0 win over Ukraine.
