Harry Kane became Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time leading goal scorer on Sunday as he netted to earn The Lilywhites a huge 1-0 victory over Manchester City.

The England captain’s first half strike – his 267th for Spurs and 200th in the Premier League – was enough to ensure the hosts took all three points, although it did also inadvertently give rivals Arsenal a boost in the race for the league title.

Kane, who spent time out on loan at a number of clubs including Millwall and Norwich City when he was younger, has established himself as arguably the world’s best striker in recent seasons, and is now one of just three players to have scored 200 goals in the Premier League.

Following his landmark goal, it appears that Tottenham have made a huge decision on the future of their talisman.

According to The Times, Spurs will not sell the England international to a Premier League rival this summer.

In recent seasons, the Englishman has been heavily linked with a number of other clubs, none more so than Manchester City.

Back in 2021, the England captain looked almost certain to be on his way to The Etihad, claiming that he had a ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ with Spurs owner Daniel levy that would allow him to leave the club.

The move never materialised, though, and City ultimately agreed a deal to sign Erling Haaland last year.

Other teams to have been linked with a move for Kane include Chelsea and Manchester United, although Spurs have reportedly now ruled out the possibility of the striker joining a Premier League rival.

It is also claimed that The Red Devils still hold an interest in Kane and had considered making an offer this summer when they will be in the market for a striker, but Spurs’ decision may now force them to look elsewhere.

This summer, the ex-Leyton Orient loanee will enter into the final 12 months of his current contract, and speculation surrounding his future remains rife as he is yet to agree an extension.

Kane has achieved the remarkable feat of becoming Spurs’ highest scorer in just 416 gams for the club, and he has also registered 62 assists across all competitions in that time.
