Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou will hope to see his side return to winning ways when they face rivals Chelsea on April 3.

The Lilywhites were beaten 2-0 by fellow London side Fulham in their last outing, leaving Postecoglou’s team 14th in the Premier League standings.

While it is still technically possible for Spurs to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League next term, Postecoglou will be more than aware that his side’s best chance of doing so will be by winning the Europa League.

The North London side face German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals, and Postecoglou will hope to continue his record of always winning a trophy in his second season at a club.

Off the pitch, it appears that Spurs are eyeing a move for a highly-rated defender.

As reported by TBR Football, Tottenham are interested in Sporting CP centre-back Ousmane Diomande as they look to bolster Postecoglou’s squad in defence.

Diomande is expected to leave Sporting this summer

Diomande, 21, has been in fine form for Sporting over the past two years, having joined the club from FC Midtjylland in 2023.

He has now played more than 90 times for the Lisbon side across all competitions, but his impressive displays haven’t gone unnoticed and the report claims that he is set to leave his current this summer.

The report reveals that Spurs have been watching the player in action regularly this season, and the North London side have now moved him up their shortlist of defensive targets ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

Sporting – who paid just £6 million to sign the central defender two years ago – are set to allow him to leave the club for around £50 million despite their being a £67 million release clause in his current deal.

Diomande’s current contract with the Portuguese champions is set to run until the end of the 2026/27 season.
