Italy got their Euro 2024 campaign off to a strong start with a 2-1 win over Albania on Saturday.

Albania took the lead inside a minute with the quickest goal in the competition’s history, but the reigning champions scored twice in quick succession to turn the game on its head.

One player who particularly impressed for Italy was defender Riccardo Calafiori, and it appears that the 22-year-old could be in line for a Premier League move.

As per CaughtOffside, Tottenham Hotspur have held initial talks about the possibility of signing the centre-back.

The report claims that both Spurs and Chelsea have shown interest in the Italian defender, who currently plays for Serie A side Bologna.

Newcastle United, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Napoli are also all said to be keeping tabs on the player, but Calafiori himself would prefer a move to Juventus if he does depart Bologna.

The defender joined his current side from Swiss club Basel last summer, having previously spent time in Italy with both Roma and Genoa.

If Bologna do sell Calafiori, the report claims that they will owe Basel a staggering 40% of the transfer fee, as part of the deal to sign him last year.

Since making the move, the Italy international has played 33 times for Bologna across all competitions, scoring twice and providing two assists.

Interested parties are said to have been informed that both Spurs and the Magpies have already been in contact over a potential deal.

It is claimed that Bologna are reluctant to lose the player and will likely demand a fee in the region of £30 million to let him leave this summer.
