Tottenham Hotspur’s inconsistent run of form continued on Thursday as they were beaten 1-0 by Bournemouth.

Having defeated Manchester City 4-0 last month, the Lilywhites had since drawn with both AS Roma and Fulham, before falling to a 1-0 loss on the south coast.

That result leaves Spurs tenth in the Premier League table ahead of a huge London derby against fierce rivals Chelsea on Sunday.

Ahead of the match, it has emerged that Tottenham are interested in a Ligue 1 defender.

As per CaughtOffside, the North London side are monitoring RC Lens centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov.

The 20-year-old moved to Lens last summer and has since played 28 times for the club across all competitions, including 22 Ligue 1 matches.

His impressive form has alerted Spurs, who have sent scouts to watch the player in action in recent months.

Khusanov has been capped 18 times by Uzbekistan at international level

It is claimed that Tottenham could look to sign the 18-time Uzbekistan international next year, either in January or next summer.

Ligue 1 side Lens are said to be aware of Spurs’ interest in the player, and have duly put an asking price of between £12-17 million on him.

The report does suggest, however, that the player’s price tag could increase in the coming months as he is contracted to Lens until 2027, putting the French side under very little pressure to sell him next year.

Spurs’ Premier League rival Newcastle United are also said to be interested in the defender, while French clubs Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping tabs on his situation.

It is also claimed that the Lilywhites could have signed the player for as little as £100,000 just 18 months ago, but they could now end up paying a much higher fee to land the defender next year.

Current Spurs defenders including Micky Van de Van and Cristian Romero have struggled with injuries in recent months.
