Thomas Frank will take charge of Tottenham Hotspur competitively for the first time when they host newly-promoted Burnley on the opening weekend of the new season.

The Dane was appointed as Spurs’ new head coach earlier this month after the North London side sacked Ange Postecoglou following a disastrous Premier League campaign that resulted in a 17th-placed finish.

Spurs did win the Europa League last season, beating Manchester United in the final, but chairman Daniel Levy opted to dismiss the Australian.

In the meantime, it has emerged that the Lilywhites are interested in a full-back who has previously played for England.

As reported by CaughtOffside, Tottenham are one of a number of Premier League sides keeping tabs on Southampton right-back Kyle Walker-Peters.

The 25-year-old is currently at Southampton but his contract will expire at the end of the month and the Englishman is set to depart St. Mary’s.

Walker-Peters joined the Saints from Tottenham back in 2020 and has since made more than 200 appearances for the south coast club across all competitions.

It is claimed that fellow London side Fulham, West Ham United and Crystal Palace are all also monitoring the player’s situation, with the defender set to be a free agent this summer.

New Spurs boss Frank is said to be keen on the idea of bringing the player back to the club, in an effort to bolster his defensive options ahead of next season.

During his time with Spurs, Walker-Peters made 24 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring once and providing five assists.

The two-time England international is capable of playing as a full-back or wing-back on either flank, which could make him a useful option for Frank.

It is also claimed that the player’s desire to remain in the top flight and his loyalty to Tottenham are also factors that appeal to those in charge of the London side.
