Tottenham are expected to complete the sales of defender Federico Fazio and winger Andros Townsend in the January transfer window.

The Premier League side, who currently sit fifth in the standings after Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United, are reportedly keen to offload the out-of-favour duo during the New Year period.

Centre-half Fazio; 28, who only arrived at White Hart Lane at the start of last season, has fallen dramatically down the pecking order this term, making just one first-team appearance for Spurs this season in the League Cup.

Meanwhile England international Townsend; 24, who has nine caps for his country, hasn’t played for Mauricio Pochettino’s side since late-October in the Europa League after falling out with the Argentine manager.

Fazio was a summer target for West Brom in the previous transfer window, meanwhile winger Townsend is attracting interest from fellow Premier League rivals Newcastle, Southampton, Swansea City and Sunderland.
