Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to return to winning ways when they face high-flying Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

The Lilywhites made a superb start to the season and sat top of the Premier League table after ten matches, having gone unbeaten.

A 4-1 defeat to rivals Chelsea ended that run of form, though, and Spurs were then beaten 2-1 by Wolves in their final game prior to the international break.

Manager Ange Postecoglou will be expecting to see his side improve against the Villans, however they will be without a number of key players due to injury, including James Maddison and Micky van de Ven.

With injuries in mind, it appears that those in charge of the club are planning ahead for the upcoming January transfer window.

According to Football Insider, the North London club are keeping tabs on Southampton goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu.

Bazunu has impressed since joining Southampton last summer

The Irishman has impressed since joining the Saints from Manchester City last summer.

He has made 54 appearances for the club across all competitions, having established himself as the club’s first choice ‘keeper last season when Southampton were relegated from the top flight.

Bazunu has impressed in the Championship, and the report claims that Tottenham’s scouts are keeping tabs on the Ireland international as they look to bolster Postecoglou’s goalkeeping options.

At present, the 21-year-old is contracted to the south coast outfit until the summer of 2027.

The Irishman is said to have first appeared on Spurs’ radar last year, and the Lilywhites could make a move to sign him with veteran ‘keeper set to depart the club.

The France international has been frozen out since Postecoglou’s arrival in the capital, and the club are said to be in talks to terminate his contract.
