England will bid to reach the World Cup semi-finals when they face Norway in the quarters in Miami on Saturday evening.

The Norwegians – spearheaded by Manchester City’s Erling Haaland – were many people’s dark horses for the tournament, and they have so far lived up to those expectations.

The Three Lions, meanwhile, were lacklustre during two of their group stage games and had to come from behind to beat DR Congo in the last 32, but produced a scintillating display to knock co-hosts Mexico out in the round of 16.

Ahead of Saturday’s match in Florida, it has emerged that one member of the England squad is on the radar of a Premier League club.

According to Italian outlet AS Roma Live, via TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur are currently in pole position to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford this summer.

The Englishman spent last season on loan at Barcelona after falling out of favour during Ruben Amorim’s spell in charge at Old Trafford, and he won the La Liga title during his time in Catalonia.

In total the forward scored 14 goals and provided the same number of assists 49 appearances during his time in Spain, but the loan deal has since come to an end and Rashford therefore faces an uncertain future.

According to the report, Italian sides Roma and Napoli were ‘sounded out’ about a possible move for the attacker, but were put off by the player’s salary demands.

Rashford has scored 138 goals and provided 79 assists in 426 appearances for Manchester United across all competitions, having graduated from the club’s youth system.

The report suggests that Barcelona have not completely ruled out the possibility of re-signing Rashford, despite their recent acquisition of England teammate, Anthony Gordon.

Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also both credited with an interest in the player.
