Tottenham Hotspur make the trip up north to face Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

The Lilywhites were beaten 2-0 by rivals Chelsea last time out, denting their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

Spurs must now rely on fourth-placed Aston Villa dropping points at least twice in the final games of the season, but the Reds will undoubtedly provide a stern test on Sunday.

In the meantime, Spurs are said to be weighing up a big transfer decision.

As reported by Football Insider, the club will make a decision on the future of Timo Werner at the end of the current season.

The german is currently on loan at Spurs from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, with his deal set to expire at the end of the current campaign.

Werner has been inconsistent since joining Tottenham in January

Spurs do have the option to sign the 28-year-old permanently this summer, but the report claims that his recent dip in form may have persuaded the club to look elsewhere for attacking reinforcements.

Since returning to London in January, the former Chelsea forward has scored twice in 14 games for Tottenham, as well as providing three assists.

The Germany international hasn’t scored since the start of March, and the report claims that he may now have done enough to warrant a permanent move to North London this summer.

Spurs are set to be in the market for a new striker this summer, having failed to replace Harry Kane after the England captain departed the club last summer to join German giants Bayern Munich.

The likes of Son Heung-Min, Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski have all contributed in attack this season, but Postecoglou will be hoping to add to his attacking options this summer.
