France will face Belgium in the last 16 of Euro 2024 on Monday, after finishing second in Group D behind Austria.

Les Bleus finished their group stage campaign with a 1-1 draw against Poland, allowing Ralf Rangnick’s side to move into top spot and set up a last 16 clash with Turkey on Tuesday.

Now, one member of Didier Deschamps’ France squad is being linked with a move to the Premier League.

As per Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur have registered their interest in AS Monaco star Youssouf Fofana.

The Frenchman enjoyed a fine season for the Ligue 1 side last term, making 35 appearances across all competitions to take his tally for the club to 175 since joining from Strasbourg in 2020.

Fofana is currently on international duty with France at Euro 2024

The defensive midfielder has made two substitute appearances at the Euros so far, and will hope to play a more significant role in the knockout stages.

It is claimed that the midfielder is also a target for AC Milan, and the Serie A side are said to be leading the race to land the 25-year-old.

The Italian outfit are still in talks over a potential move for the player, but the report claims that Spurs are happy to wait in the background in case the negotiations collapse.

Fofana’s contract with Monaco is set to expire next summer, which means the player could sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of France in January.

Monaco could therefore decide to cash in on the player during the current transfer window, in an effort to avoid potentially losing him for free next year.

While the Lilywhites are hoping to beat Milan to the signing of Fofana, the North London club are actually also working on a proposed deal with their Italian counterparts.

The Serie A side are interested in Spurs full-back Emerson Royal, with Tottenham holding out for a fee of £20 million.
