Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko is eyeing up a summer move away from the club after a disastrous first season at White Hart Lane, reports L’Equipe (via The London Evening Standard).

The 27-year-old secured a £30 million move from Newcastle United last summer following a fine European Championships with France, but Spurs fans saw the Newcastle Sissoko instead of France’s Sissoko for much of last season, with the midfielder contributing just two assists in 25 Premier League appearances.

And with the likes of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, and Son Heung-min more productive, more effective, and more integral to Mauricio Pochettino’s attacking midfield, first team opportunities once again look set to be scarce for Sissoko, and that is why he is hoping for a move away this summer.

And with Ligue 1 giants Marseille reportedly keeping tabs on his situation, the 27-year-old is hopeful that Spurs won’t stand in his way should an offer come in this summer, what with the World Cup just over a year away.

He said: ‘I don’t think [the fee] will be a problem.

‘They know I am no longer a kid: I am 27 and I need to get to the World Cup. If a situation arrives where I can leave, I hope they don’t cause problems.’

These comments are sure to interest Marseille and possibly Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle, who have been heavily backed to re-sign Sissoko just 12 months after selling him to Tottenham.

And although his next move very much remains unclear, what does seem evident is that his horror spell at Spurs will be coming to an end this summer.
