If at first you don’t succeed; try, try again. Then try twice more in Tottenham’s case.

With Spurs currently occupying fourth spot in the Premier League, six points adrift of league leaders and arch-rivals Arsenal, the North London outfit look destined to pursue a striker in the January transfer window to help ease the goalscoring burden upon England striker Harry Kane’s shoulders at White Hart Lane.

So we circle back to a familiar transfer target, West Brom forward Saido Berahino.

After seeing FOUR approaches rejected for the former England Under-21 international during the summer, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly set to return to the Hawthorns with a fifth bid for the 22-year-old striker sometime this month.

Berahino, who came through the Midlands clubs youth academy, has scored three goals in 15 Premier League appearances for Tony Pulis’ Baggies so far this season.

However the highly-rated forward, who was called up to Roy Hodgson’s England senior squad back in November 2014, hasn’t started for West Brom since late-October after seemingly dropping down the pecking order behind club-record signing Salomon Rondon and Rickie Lambert.

Despite that fact; Spurs are still said to be interested in Berahino’s services this month and should confirm their interest with a solid £15m opening offer.

However this transfer fee is far below what Tottenham offered West Brom back in the summer when Spurs’ fourth and final bid mounted up to £23m after instalments.
