Tottenham are reportedly lining up a surprise January swoop for in-form Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy.

The 28-year-old joined an elite group of players – including Ruud van Nistelrooy, Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry – when he scored in his seventh successive Premier League game on Saturday, and his exploits in front of goal haven’t gone unnoticed.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to provide some more competition to Vardy’s England team-mate Harry Kane, and sees the Foxes forward as a good match to the high pressing game he likes to play.

The former Fleetwood attacker – who has four Three Lions’ caps to his name – is top of the English top-flight’s goalscoring charts with 10 in 10 matches this term.
