Tottenham are reportedly weighing up an £8m raid for Championship starlet Ademola Lookman this summer, according to the Daily Star on Sunday.

The Premier League side, who are currently in action against Southampton at White Hart Lane, are eager to beat fellow potential suitors Liverpool to the signature of Charlton Athletic’s highly-rated forward.

The 18-year-old, who was playing non-league football with Waterloo FC in 2014, scored five goals and provided one assist in 24 league appearances for the relegated Addicks this season.

Lookman, who is highly regarded as one of English football’s brightest prospects outside of the top-flight, was voted Charlton’s apprentice of the year following his impressive breakthrough this term.

However given Jose Riga’s side’s demotion to League One beyond this summer, the report suggests that Charlton are ready to cash in on their prized asset – with Tottenham and Liverpool set to go head-to-head for his signature.

Lookman featured in the Addicks’ final league game of the 2015/16 season on Saturday, a 3-0 home defeat to Championship champions Burnley.
