Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to secure his first win as Tottenham Hotspur manager when the Lilywhites face Manchester United on Saturday.

Spurs were held to a 2-2 draw by Brentford in the Australian’s first match in charge last weekend; the game was also Tottenham’s first since the departure of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.

The Red Devils will undoubtedly provide a tough test for Postecoglou’s side, although United’s lacklustre performance in their season opener against Wolves will give the former Celtic boss encouragement.

In the meantime, it appears that the North London outfit could be prepared to sell one of their most experienced players.

As per Football Insider, Tottenham could be willing to accept offers for Eric Dier if the remainder of the transfer market goes to plan.

Dier could leave Tottenham before the end of the transfer window

The 29-year-old joined Spurs from Portuguese side Sporting CP back in 2014 and has established himself as a regular for the club in recent seasons.

In total he has made 361 appearances across all competitions, but he was left out of Postecoglou’s squad for the game against the Bees on Sunday.

The report claims that new arrivals in midfield or defence, which Spurs are hoping to complete, could push Dier further down the pecking order and prompt Spurs to sell the player.

The centre-back, who can also operate in midfield, is currently contracted to Spurs until next summer, and the club could therefore opt to sell him during the current window in order to avoid losing him for free next year.

It has previously been reported that Dier could be open to the prospect of leaving Tottenham after nine years with the club, although he is said to be happy in North London and isn’t actively pursuing a move away at present.

At international level Dier has been capped 49 times by England, although he hasn’t featured for the Three Lions this year following a dip in form last season.
