Tottenham are ready to sanction a £40m January move for out-of-favour Real Madrid playmaker, Isco, according to reports from Spanish publication, Sport (via Sport Witness).

The former Malaga man is reportedly unhappy at the Santiago Bernabeu as he moves further away from Zinedine Zidane’s starting XI, and the Champions League winners are open to the idea of a deal in the winter window.

However, the reports have come under scrutiny from some corners, who claim that Spurs’ chairman Daniel Levy, who is known for his canny deals, would never usually consider spending such an amount on one player.

Both Tottenham and Premier League rivals Man United have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old, who has 14 Spain caps to his name, scoring on one occasion.

Despite falling down the pecking order in Madrid this season, the attacking midfielder has 154 appearances for the Galacticos under his belt, bagging himself 22 goals along the way. It could though be time to leave Los Blancos, considering he is yet to start a game this season.
