According to The Mirror, Tottenham have rejected an £8m bid from Crystal Palace for defender Ben Davies.

Sam Allardyce’s struggling Palace have been shipping goals this season, but Spurs who recently lost Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld through injury are short at the back.

Davies currently plays second fiddle left-back Danny Rose. The 23 year-old has featured just seven times in the league for Spurs this term, but with Europa League commitments on the horizon, the Welshman should expect more game time.

Spurs boss, Mauricio Pochettino sees the versatile fullback as key to his defensive options and that’s left Palace counterpart Sam Allardyce frustrated..

It seems Big Sam had turned to Davies after failing to secure Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson. A move for the 24 year-old collapsed after the two parties couldn’t agree personal terms.

Tottenham are now preparing to get back to wining ways after rescuing a point in a 2-2 draw at Manchester City on Saturday. The North Londoners meet Wycombe Wanderers in the FA Cup fourth round on January 28.
