Tottenham Hotspur found themselves 2-0 up at The Etihad on Thursday, before a stunning comeback ensured Manchester City were victorious, running out 4-2 winners.

Two quick goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Emerson Royal put Antonio Conte’s in a commanding position at the break, before The Citizens ran riot in the second half.

Goals from Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland, as well as a brace from Riyad Mahrez, ensured that Pep Guardiola’s side closed the gap to leaders Arsenal to five points.

The result will only increase the pressure on Spurs boss Conte, who has now seen his side lose to both Arsenal and City in the space of five days.

Tottenham are yet to make a signing so far this month, but it now appears that they have rejected the chance to sign a Chelsea winger.

According to The Telegraph, The Blues made an enquiry about the availability of Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma, and also tabled the opportunity for Hakim Ziyech to move in the opposite direction.

Tottenham have ‘shown no encouragement’ so far though, the report says.

Chelsea have been one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs during the current window, with PSV Eindhoven winger Noni Madueke set to become their sixth signing of the month in the coming days.

Chelsea have considered a move for Bissouma

Both Joao Felix and Mykhaylo Mudryk have already arrived at Stamford Bridge, meaning one of Ziyech or Christian Pulisic is likely to leave the club either this month or in the summer.

Current Blues boss Graham Potter worked with Bissouma during his time in charge of Brighton and Hove Albion, and the Englishman appears keen for a reunion.

The Mali international only joined Spurs from The Seagulls last summer, for a fee of around £25 million.

He signed a four-year deal upon his arrival, and has since made 22 appearances for his new club.

The midfielder has only started eight Premier League matches, though, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur often preferred.

Signing a midfielder is a priority for Potter, with both N’Golo Kante and Jorginho set to be out of contract at the end of the current season.
