Tottenham were very busy on transfer deadline day as they attempted to trim Ange Postecoglou’s bloated squad whilst also looking to complete late signings.

Spurs managed to secure a £47.5m deal for Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson, a player that the Australian had earmarked as one of his top targets.

The Lilywhites agreed to allow out-of-favour players Sergio Reguilon and Japhet Tanganga to depart on loan before the window slammed shut, with the duo joining Manchester United and Augsburg respectively.

However, Postecoglou’s side were unable to shift a number of fringe players who don’t feature in Postecoglou’s plans.

The North London outfit were willing to listen to offers for players including Davison Sanchez, Eric Dier, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, and Tanguy Ndombele, but all four remain at the club.

Hojbjerg was heavily linked with a move away from the club on deadline day, but a move for the midfielder failed to materialise.

It seems that Hojbjerg wasn’t the only player that attracted interest on the last day of the window.

Hugo Lloris missed pre-season preparations with Spurs, as the club allowed him time to seek a move away from the club

According to The Times, Newcastle United made a late move to sign Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Llloris, however the Frenchman wasn’t interested in the proposed move.

Lloris, 36, hasn’t featured for the North Londoners since their humiliating 6-1 defeat to Newcastle last season.

Despite falling down the pecking order at the club recently, Lloris will remain a legendary figure to the fans after making 447 appearances across all competitions.

The 36-year-old was appointed club captain by Mauricio Pochettino back in 2015 and remained the official skipper until Postecoglou selected Son Heung-Min this term.

Although the 2018 World Cup winner turned down a move to St. James’ Park, the Frenchman could still be sold this term to clubs in different countries where the transfer window remains open.
