Tottenham Hotspur return to action on Thursday evening when they face Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in the first leg of their Europa League last 16 tie.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have endured a frustrating season but looked to have turned their fortunes around with three straight Premier League wins, prior to a narrow 1-0 defeat against reigning champions Manchester City in their last outing.

The Australian will be desperate to see his side go all the way in Europe’s secondary competition this term, with domestic rivals Manchester United arguably their biggest challengers.

Away from the action, it has been reported that one of Spurs’ most experienced players is set for crunch talks about his future at the club.

As per Football Insider, midfielder Yves Bissouma is set to hold talks with the North London club to discuss his future.

The 28-year0old joined the Lilywhites from Brighton and Hove Albion in 2022, having impressed during his time on the south coast.

Since moving to the capital, the Mali international has played 88 times for Spurs.

The midfielder suffered a knock last month and has therefore failed to start any of Spurs’ last three matches in the Premier League.

He is fast approaching the final year of his current contract, though, and the repot claims that the player is therefore set to sit down with those in charge of Spurs to discuss what’s best for the future.

With this summer’s window representing Tottenham’s last chance to cash in on the player before he can sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign sides in January 2026, the report claims that the North London outfit may choose to sell the midfielder prior to the start of next season.

Bissouma has represented Mali 36 times at senior international level, scoring five times.
