The 2021/22 Premier League season is now just days away, with what promises to be an exhilarating season lying ahead.

The vast majority of the 20 Premier League sides have been busy in the transfer market, and the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United will all be eyeing Manchester City’s crown.

When the schedule is announced ahead of the new season, few teams would wish to face the reigning champions on the opening day.

This year, that task falls to Tottenham Hotspur, who host City on Sunday.

Ward-Prowse was cut from England’s preliminary Euro 2020 squad.

It looks like the Lilywhites will still have talisman Harry Kane, who had pressed for a move to City, in their squad and it also appears that they could have another addition.

According to The Telegraph, Spurs now have an interest in Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse.

The Saints player has impressed at St. Mary’s in recent seasons and narrowly missed out on Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2020.

Tottenham are in search of a creative midfielder and have also been linked with Denis Zakaria and Palhinha.

The report states that Spurs will face strong competition from Aston Villa for the player who has scored 10 Premier League free-kicks.

Spurs have reportedly held an interest in the 26-year-old for a while now and, while former boss Mauricio Pochettino couldn’t force a move, they are willing to try once again.

It is reported that Spurs will make an offer to the south coast side after this weekend’s opening round of fixtures.
