Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen has refused to rule out a move away from North London this summer following a testing first campaign at the club, according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf (via Sport Witness).

The 22-year-old moved to White Hart Lane last summer after a hugely prolific spell at Eredivisie outfit AZ, where he scored 31 goals in 49 games in all competitions, yet was unable to transfer that form into the Premier League, where he scored just twice in 27 league appearances.

And with only seven of those starts, the Dutch international has found life difficult under Mauricio Pochettino, and has refused to rule out moving away this summer in a bid for more regular first team football.

He said: ‘That is a matter for after the holidays.

‘I want the prospect of more playing time, but otherwise I’m now better keeping my mouth shut.

And when asked about a potential return to the Eredivisie, he said: ‘I cannot say anything about that either. I keep all options open.’

These comments may concern Spurs supporters who have seriously backed Janssen to do well this season, and perhaps produced one of loudest cheers of the season when he scored his first Premier League goal from open play against Bournemouth back in April.

However, with Harry Kane continuing to show why he’s one of the best strikers in Europe, and the likes of Son Heung-min and Dele Alli continuing to score goals from the attacking midfield positions, it’s difficult to see Janssen nailing down a regular starting berth next season.

And whether that’s enough to tempt the 22-year-old to move away this summer very much remains to be seen.
