Sunday’s clash will see a Tottenham side looking to bounce back from their Champions League opening day defeat to AS Monaco, take on a struggling Sunderland side who seem to already be scraping for points.

Spurs boss, Mauricio Pochettino, will be hopeful that his side can get back to winning ways as they look to maintain their European ambitions, whilst opposing manager David Moyes will no doubt be grateful for any positive result at White Hart Lane to steady the ship in the North East.

Harry Kane and Dele Alli look set to replicate the impressive form they showed against fellow strugglers Stoke City last weekend, as they are sure to get many opportunities to add to their early goal tallies against a struggling Black Cats defence who will no doubt be buoyed by the fact that centre-half Lamine Kone has signed a new five-year contract.

On the other hand, striker Jermian Defoe has shown glimpses that perhaps he could once again be the man to aid Sunderland’s cause this season.

Likewise, Adnan Januzaj could also be a potential key player for the Black Cats, as like Defoe, the Belgian has been one of the more positive elements of Moyes’s squad so far.

Certainly, if these two players combine well, alongside a confident showing from Kone at the back, then it might not all be doom and gloom in Sunderland this year.
