Truth about Spurs buy-back clause for Kane revealed

Harry Kane scored his first Champions League goal for Bayern Munich on Wednesday as the Bundesliga champions defeated Manchester United. 

Kane scored Bayern’s third goal from the penalty spot to take the scoreline to 3-1 but, after a late flurry of goals, the German side ended up winning 4-3 at the Allianz Arena.

Kane, 30, joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer for a fee of around £85 million, and he has since scored five goals in six games for his new club.

The England captain left Spurs as the club’s all-time top goal scorer, but it appears that rumours linking him with a shock return to North London may be far-fetched.

It had been rumoured that Spurs had insisted on a buy-back clause being included in the deal for Kane, but Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg has now claimed that such a clause wasn’t included.

The journalist suggests that, rather than the rumoured caveat, Tottenham instead have the right to match any offer for Kane, meaning that their German counterparts must inform the club of any bids that they receive.

Kane netted a remarkable 278 goals in 430 games for the Lilywhites during his time with the club, but Spurs haven’t struggled since his departure and currently sit second in the Premier League table, behind only reigning champions Manchester City.

When joining the Bavarian outfit, Kane signed a contract that is set to run until 2027, by which time he will be 34-years-old.

The player had to make a huge decision over the summer but, despite opting to move to Germany, he will undoubtedly have one eye on the all-time Premier League scoring record and will therefore never rule out a return to England.

At present the Englishman sits second on the list with 213 goals in the competition, behind his fellow countryman Alan Shearer who netted 260 times.
