Arsenal will hope to return to winning ways when they face rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby on Sunday.

After winning their first two games of the new Premier League season, Mikel Arteta’s side slumped to a 1-1 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion last time out.

The Gunners therefore sit fourth in the top flight standings, and Arteta will want to see his side pick up all three points against Spurs on Sunday.

Off the pitch, it appears that Arsenal could have to fend off interest in one of their midfielders.

According to The Sun, Turkish side Galatasaray have turned their attention to Arsenal midfielder Jorginho after failing to sign Casemiro from Manchester United.

It is claimed that Casemiro opted to stay put at Old Trafford and fight for his place in Erik ten Hag’s side, prompting Galatasaray to instead turn their focus to Jorginho.

Jorginho has emerged as a target for Galatasaray

The Italian joined Arsenal from London rivals Chelsea in January 2023 and has since played more than 50 times for the Gunners.

He is yet to feature for Arteta’s side so far this term, but the report claims that Arsenal will reject any offers for the 32-year-old as they intend to keep hold of him.

Arsenal were dealt a huge blow last week when new signing Mikel Merino was injured during training, with the Spaniard now set for around six weeks on the sidelines.

Arteta will also be without midfielder Declan Rice for the North London derby next week, following the England international’s sending off against the Seagulls last time out.

Jorginho is therefore likely to feature against the Lilywhites, making it even more unlikely that he will be allowed to leave the club this week.

While the transfer window in England is already shut, clubs in Turkey are able to sign players until Friday.
