Manchester United defenders Phil Jones and Eric Bailly will leave the club this summer, with the pair having told teammates that their time at United is up.

As per The Manchester Evening News, the defensive duo have already informed teammates of their impending departure, although the news may not come as a surprise to many as the Red Devils plot a huge summer overhaul.

Incoming manager Erik ten Hag will oversee a number of incomings and outgoings this summer, and Billy and Jones will be among them.

The likes of Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard are also all set to leave the club, with all four players’ contracts set to expire at the end of the season.

Jones will end an 11-year stay with the club in the summer, having joined from Blackburn Rovers in 2011.

Bailly has made just 70 Premier League appearances in six seasons in England

The Englishman was a regular for several seasons under Sir Alex Ferguson, David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal, but he has fallen out of favour in recent seasons.

The 30-year-old has made just four league starts over the past two seasons, and appeared to wave goodbye to United supporters during their win over Brentford at Old Trafford on Monday.

Bailly, meanwhile, has featured more regularly in recent seasons, but has still seen his playing time reduced of late.

The Ivorian joined United from Spanish side Villarreal in 2016 and played 25 times during his debut season in England.

He has since fallen out of favour, though, and is now behind Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire in the pecking order.

Jones will depart as a free agent, whereas Bailly’s contract is not set to expire until 2024 and United could therefore command a fee for the centre-back.
