After a two-day break, the World Cup resumes on Friday with the first two quarter-finals taking place.

Brazil face Croatia before the in-form Netherlands take on Argentina, with a place in the semi-finals at stake.

On Saturday, it is England’s turn to take centre-stage as they take on reigning world champions France, but not before Portugal face Morocco.

The North African side have impressed with their performances throughout the tournament so far, beating Belgium and drawing against Croatia.

Their finest moment came on Tuesday, though, as they beat Spain 3-0 on penalties after a goalless draw.

Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi stole the limelight by scoring the winning penalty in style, but it was one of his teammates who impressed most.

Midfielder Sofyan Amrabat was once again on fine form during the match, and his performances have now alerted the attention of two Premier League clubs.

According to 90min, both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the midfielder, who current plays for Italian side Fiorentina.

Amrabat has been one of the standout players at the World Cup so far

Amrabat, 26, has been a target for Spurs for a while now and the London side even considered a move for him prior to signing Rodrigo Bentancur, the report claims.

The Reds, meanwhile, searched desperately for a central midfielder over the summer but failed in almost all of their pursuits, with a loan deal for Arthur Melo their only signing in midfield.

This season, Jurgen Klopp’s side have struggled with injuries to a number of key midfielders including Jordan Henderson and Thiago.

They could therefore look to land Amrabat during the upcoming January transfer window, although the Serie A side are unlikely to let him leave Tuscany any time soon and have already refused approaches, it is claimed.

Amrabat’s agent, Mohammed Sinouh, recently claimed that the Moroccan is the ‘best holding midfielder in the World Cup’, as well as revealing that he ‘gets a lot of phone calls’ about the player.

Having joined Fiorentina from Hellas Verona back in 2020, Amrabat has already made more than 75 appearances for the Italians.

The midfielder has already played in Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium.
