Aston Villa are reportedly lining-up a surprise £10m move for Wolverhampton Wanderers hitman Benik Afobe.

Tim Sherwood’s Villans, who currently sit in the bottom three of the Premier League following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Stoke City, are eager to bolster their attacking options during the January transfer window in order to stave off relegation.

The 22-year-old, who only arrived at Molineux from top-flight rivals Arsenal back in January, scored a sensational 32 goals in all competitions for both Milton Keynes Dons and Wolves last season to finish as the leading goalscorer in English football last term.

Afobe, who has played twice for England’s Under-21 squad, scored twice in Wolves’ 3-0 win over Huddersfield Town at the weekend, taking his total goalscoring tally for the campaign to four.
