Chelsea will reportedly make a summer swoop for Netherlands international defender Virgil van Dijk as part of a £100m spending spree, according to the Mirror.
The Premier League side, who have moved nine points clear at the top of the standings after drawing 1-1 against Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday, are interested in luring the Southampton centre-half to Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.
The 25-year-old, who has 12 international caps for his country, has scored four goals in 30 appearances in all competitions for the Saints so far this season.
Van Dijk, who arrived at St Mary’s Stadium back in September 2015 following his reported £13m switch from Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, is also said to be attracting interest from Premier League rivals Manchester City.
Blues captain John Terry is set to depart the club this summer, with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte keen on luring the Dutchman to London as a possible replacement, despite the defender putting pen to paper on a new six-year deal with Claude Puel’s side only last May.
