Remember the name: Angel Gomes. Because it sure looks like we will be seeing a lot more of this star in the near future.
The 16-year-old, who is an England Under-16 international, has been fast tracked into Manchester United’s Under-18 squad, after making his debut at the age of 14.
Gomes; who is the youngest ever player to score a hat-trick at academy level for the Red Devils in 15 years, is highly-rated at Old Trafford, and indeed, in the world, with FC Barcelona reportedly interested in the wonderkid.
He scored once more in the 4-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday, the sixth time in which United’s Under-18s have netted four or more strikes in a single match this season.
And Gomes, who now has eight goals and nine assists in just 11 appearances to his name so far this term, is very much an integral part of the youth side’s success.
However, the attacking midfielder will be fondly reminded that being prolific and talented at youth level is one thing, but replicating your skills at senior level is a whole new ball game.
