Despite being on the losing side last night, Dan Crowley showcased his goalscoring touch with an injury-time strike, one which I’m sure Arsene Wenger will be casting a keen eye over for the rest of the season.

The 19-year-old midfielder, currently on loan at League One outfit Oxford United, netted the Yellows’ consolation in the 92nd minute as Michael Appleton’s men fell to a 2-1 away defeat to rock-bottom Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena on Tuesday night.

However Crowley, who has four caps for England’s Under-19 side, made the scoreline look a little bit more respectable after a thoroughly disappointing performance from the visitors, volleying home a deflected cross into the bottom right-hand corner – his first goal for the U’s.

The youngster, who has been with Premier League side Arsenal since the summer of 2013, is yet to make a first-team appearance under Gunners boss Wenger, and was loaned out to Barnsley last year, where the midfielder scored one goal and provided one assist in 13 appearances for the Tykes.

Despite having failed to start a League One game for Oxford so far this term, perhaps his Coventry consolation will help him push up Appleton’s pecking order this term, whilst also enter Wenger’s frame of mind in the near future.
