Chelsea loanee Lewis Baker showed the Blues boss Antonio Conte exactly what he can do whilst on international duty for the England U21’s in France on Monday night.

Aidy Boothroyd, who has taken temporary charge after Gareth Southgate took the top job on an interim basis, took his side to Bondoufle on the back of a 15-match unbeaten run which came to an end as the Three Lions succumbed to a thrilling 3-2 loss at the hands of Les Blues.

The visitors took the lead thanks to a sublime chip from Sunderland’s Duncan Watmore, before a brace from Celtic striker Moussa Dembele handed France the lead.

With just nine minutes remaining Baker, who is currently on loan at Vitesse for the second season running, stepped up and slotted home a superb free-kick.

However, with the scores level, two minutes later Frenchman Wylan Cyprien matched Baker’s effort with another spectacular free-kick to make it 3-2.

The 21-year-old has scored seven goals in 14 outings for Vitesse so far this season, and is well worth a look for Conte when he returns to West London.
