Watford are reportedly closing in on the capture of France midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure, according to Mercato 365.

The Premier League side, who visit Swansea City tonight, are expected to reach an agreement with Rennes for the former France Under-21 international this month.

The 23-year-old, who is an attack-minded player, has scored three and assisted two goals in 18 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit this season.

Doucoure, who was linked with an £8m summer switch to the Hornets back in August, would become boss Quique Sanchez Flores’ second January addition at Vicarage Road behind Malaga winger Nordin Amrabat.
