West Ham United could be put off by the extortionate transfer fee involving a summer move for Nigeria international Odion Ighalo, according to the Brentwood Gazette.
The Premier League side, who visit Old Trafford this weekend to take on Manchester United in their FA Cup quarter-final clash, have been thoroughly impressed by the Watford striker’s displays in the English top-flight this term.
The 26-year-old, who has seven international caps for his country, has scored a remarkable 16 goals and provided five assists in 32 appearances in all competitions for the Hornets so far this season.
Ighalo, who originally arrived on loan at Vicarage Road from Italian outfit Udinese back in July 2014, was reportedly the subject of a failed £27m bid from an unnamed Chinese club during the January transfer window.
After Quique Sanchez Flores’ side rejected that previous approach, West Ham would most likely need to cough up more than £27m if they have any chance of landing Ighalo this summer.
