Watford’s £7m approach for La Liga midfielder rejected

Watford have reportedly been halted in their pursuit of Ghanaian midfielder Thomas.

The newly-promoted Premier League side, who suffered a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City at the weekend, are understood to have had an £7m opening bid for the Atletico Madrid star rejected.

The 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan with Almeria, has scored twice in seven appearances in all competitions for the La Liga leaders so far this season.

Thomas, who is contracted to the Spanish outfit until 2020, is highly-rated by Atletico boss Diego Simeone and is understood to have no reason to selling his midfielder during the January transfer window.
