Watford were beaten in all three of their Premier League fixtures in March as they seemingly look ahead to their FA Cup semi-final against Crystal Palace now they are all but safe in England’s top flight.

However, all three defeats were only by a single-goal margin and one of the Hornets players to come out with some credit was captain Troy Deeney, who netted their only goal of the month in the final fixture against Stoke City at Vicarage Road – a 2-1 loss.

The skipper has often led by example throughout the campaign for Quique Sanchez Flores’ outfit, and the striker will need to be at his influential best as the Hertfordshire-based club look to reach the magic 40-point mark to avoid being dragged into the relegation scrap over the rest of the course of the season.
