Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger confirmed that both Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck should be back in the first team fold sooner rather than later.
Speaking after his side’s first defeat in 20 outings, at the hands of Claude Puel and his Southampton side in the EFL Cup quarter-final, the Frenchman said:
“Giroud is a short one, he has a chance to play on Saturday.”
The Gunners travel to the London Stadium for the first time this weekend to face Slaven Bilic and his West Ham side who were also knockout out of the League Cup on Wednesday night by Man United.
On former Man United striker Danny Welbeck, who has been missing since early May with a cartilage problem, the Gunners boss added;
“Welbeck is in training, not full training but he should be back in full training in the month of December.”
The England international’s return could be timely as Le Prof looks to give star striker Alexis Sanchez, who has been played through the middle this season, a winter break in order to keep him fresh for the Premier League run-in.
