West Brom have been linked with a move for Lamine Kone.

According to a report in the Birmingham Mail the Sunderland defender could be on his way despite just arriving at the Stadium of Light during the January transfer window.

Kone has been largely blameless in Sunderland’s slide towards the Championship with Davie Moyes faced with a clear out to cut costs.

Moyes would rather hold on to the £6m signing from Lorient but other factors are likely to come into play as life in the Championship is faced upto.

Tony Pulis is looking to strengthen most areas of his squad and bring in competition for Gareth McAuley and Jonny Evans.

At 28 years of age with half a dozen years experience in France behind him Kone has already demonstrated that he can cope with the demands.

Pulis has personally scouted a number of targets over the last few weeks but faces competition from Crystal Palace for the signing of the Sunderland defender.
