West Brom face competition from West Ham for the signing of Steven Mounie.

According to a report in the Birmingham Mail the Montpellier striker is in demand from both clubs after Fulham were priced out of a deal in January.

Despite Montpellier finishing the season in 15th place in the 20 team Ligue 1 Mounie scored an impressive 14 goals.

That sort of form in his first season in the top flight didn’t go unnoticed with West Brom desperate to bring in more striking options.

Tony Pulis was frustrated by his side’s struggles in front of goal highlighted by top scorer Salomon Rondon picking up just eight Premier League goals. Defender Gareth McAuley was second top scorer on six as Albion staggered through the final weeks of the season.

Albion have looked at signing Troy Deeney from Watford but that door looks like closing due to costs with the 22-year-old Benin internationalist offering better value at £12m.
