West Brom are planning a £9m move for Lamine Kone.

According to a report in The Chronicle the Sunderland defender looks certain to be staying in the Premier League despite last season’s disastrous campaign ended in relegation for the Black Cats.

Kone, Jordan Pickford and Jermain Defoe were three players largely exempt from criticism but unfortunately for Sunderland fans neither player is likely to be at the Stadium of Light next season.

West Brom boss Tony Pulis has been impressed by Kone and knows that with a contract until 2021 Sunderland are keen to move the defender on.

Despite an impressive final position in the table Pulis was disappointed with the way his side’s form fell away with the phrase ‘on the beach’ often used to describe the players attitude.

Kone’s uncompromising style of play doesn’t allow him to drop down the gears with Pulis looking for that sort of approach to push Albion higher up the table.
