West Bromwich Albion are reportedly set to make a £10m bid for England international defender Chris Smalling, according to the Daily Star.

The Premier League side, who finished 10th in the English top-flight standings last term, have been linked with luring the out-of-favour Manchester United centre-half to The Hawthorns this summer.

The 27-year-old, who has 31 international caps for The Three Lions, scored two goals and provided two assists in 36 appearances in all competitions for The Red Devils last season, who won the UEFA Europa League and the EFL Cup.

Manchester United’s Chris Smalling.

Smalling, who signed for United from Championship outfit Fulham back in January 2010, has netted 13 times in 243 games overall for Jose Mourinho’s side, lifting two Premier League titles (2010-11 and 2012-13).

However, the report suggests the England star is on his way out of Old Trafford this summer after falling down the ‘Special One’s’ pecking order, following the £31m arrival of Victor Lindelof from Benfica this transfer window.

Tony Pulis’ Baggies are favourites to land Smalling’s services, who will make a £10m offer once they return from their pre-season tour of Asia, although Premier League rivals Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Stoke City have also all been linked.
